THE MOUSE TRAP

THE MOUSE TRAP
One night years ago I got up and entered the bathroom.  To my horror there was a mouse in the house!  I slammed the bathroom door shut ran into the bedroom and violently woke Dan up out of a dead sleep.  I screamed at my husband declaring; “get up and kill the mouse that is in the bathroom”.  Dan armed himself with a broom charged into the bathroom and annihilated the mouse.
The next morning to my dismay not only had he annihilated the mouse, he had gouged our bathroom floor in several places.  Years went by before the floor was replaced; leaving a daily remaindered of the mouse killing night.
How many of us do that to each other in our marital relationship?  We make a mountain out of a mole hill ~ blowing up over something little, leaving in place; gouges, cuts, bruises, imprints that take years to repair.  The Bible has much to say to us about how we are to interact with one another.  First we must identify the real cause behind these outbursts that occur in our relationships.
According to James 4:1-3 (NKJV) it says:  Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members?  You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet you do not have because you do not ask.
You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures.
James 3:9-12, 17 (NKJV)    With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God.  Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.  Does a spring send forth fresh water and bitter from the same opening?  Can a fig tree, my brethren, bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Thus no spring yields both salt water and fresh. (v17) But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.
